12 miles of gravel track along Kielder Forest Drive, then 20 miles or so along mostly narrow, twisty single track behind the Otterburn ranges. Suicidal sheep add to the interest. Reward yourself with a pint at the Rose & Thistle, Alwinton.

A deliberate attempt to travel cross-country East-West avoiding major roads. The section between Elvanfoot and Newton Stewart (A702/712) is glorious. The added bonus at the end of the trip is lunch at Streatery, Sandhead (http://www.streatery82.co.uk/).

A much more interesting route from Morpeth to Ashington. Done either direction at the start and/or end of working day makes life more tolerable...

Plenty of stop offs along the way for refreshments......Starting off at the Colliery cafe at willington front street, through crook heading towards corbride but turn left at carteway heads b6278 (manor house inn) its like a race track but beware of sheep, down to stanhope and over to middleton in teesdale, stone chippings have almost cleared so again racetrack with sheep, headig towards barnard castle, heading towards west aucland but turn left to join the a68 (The 68 cafe) then right onto the a689 and back through crook to the willington cafe for a sundays dinner :-) not an all day run but ideal for giving the bike a run out without much police interest :-)

some decent straights, country roads and nice scenery. leaving penshaw passing bemish - Stanley - Concett then thorough the countryside passing Derwent reservoir and ending up in hexam (plenty of places to stop for food or drinks) before returning back to penshaw on motorways

The roads in Scotland are amongst the best in the country. Police on a weekend but worth a day off work to do it through the week. As a group, with a pillion or solo this one is superb. Enjoy

Lovely part of the country taking in plenty of little villages. Hawes is a favourite with bikers. Lots of stop offs for a brew and a chat. Roads give you everything its up to you what you do with them. Faster or slow its a good run out.

This is a GREAT run, full day out really if ya wanna really enjoy it, up the A696 and then on to Hawick with some lovely twisties then onto St Marys Loch with some of the best twisties around....well earned break at the cafe by the Loch and then on to Moffat and Peebles, alot of the road is brand new and a great mix of fast sweepers and tight twisty stuff bringing you in a big loop back to the A696 and homeward bound.

A nice trip to Hartside Cafe for a cuppa and back down and home over the awesome Stanhope Moors, a good mix of everything, some straight bits to get speed up and some of the best twisties around with great views to match. Lots of sections where you can see along way in front of you and use all of the road in corners.
Great run for weekdays as theres very little traffic.

A nice little figure of 8,taking in some nice scenery with a mix of fast sweeping bends and some tighter twisty back roads. Around 140-ish miles round trip, alot of the fuel stations along the way have closed lately, so if you cant make it all the way round you can add in Hawick for fuel halfway round before coming round the back of Kielder.
Theres plenty of coffee stops if your not in a hurry and want to stretch it out a bit........Rothbury/Otterburn/Carter Bar/Either end of Kielder and few Pubs/Cafe's on the A696 into Ponteland.

rough and twisty country road with a hump back hill. Be carefull at hump road goes immediate left start turning as you reach the peak of the hill. A cracking little pub with outdoor drinking area in the middle of route on left hand side. Biker friendly. Short route but very enjoyable

A good day out for all abilities. Lots of quick sections, make sure you pick a warm day and take on plenty of fluids at St Mary's.

If you fancy a great ride through wonderful scenery then this is the one for you. At the end of your ride is one of the most haunted castles in the north east.
