The superslap portions of the route are what they are, but the mountain roads portion of this route is fantastic.
Two major sections of mountains and twisties.
Beautiful scenery in the mountains.
NOT good to go any later in the winter season than about November as roads up at 5000 feet elevation will ice up and snow, but other times of the year, it's a long but great ride to a desert resort area.
The road condition is like Trinity rd. But it it does get a lot better about 3/4 of mile in. It's definitely worth doing especially if you came up Trinity rd. this far.
Great mix of terrain. Tight twisties with straights on Hwy One. Watch out for bark, branches, and fallen rock from the hill side.
This is the local Route to Nacimiento Fergusson Rd. About 20 miles. This is what we take when Highway 1 is blocked in both directions. This path is rocky and completely unpaved. There are slow speed sections where there are several "neighborhoods" where locals live they are very friendly just don't speed through their area. Kids live and play up here. There are two sections where you need to watch your speed. no worry's though signs are posted letting you know you're in a "residential area." The Road head starts at Treebones Resort driveway. Go left onto Will Creek Rd. just keep trucking until you come to a fork in the road about 8-miles up. Follow the sign that says Naci-Fergusson/south coast ridge road. Things to be aware of: This road is used by locals. They drive really fast! This road is only passable with high clearance vehicles. Small/large trucks motorcycles ATV's. Can be done in a small car but definitely not recommended.
Alice's thru Big Basin, Bonny Doon, Swanton & Pescadero
Going to be a great ride on a beautiful day
Great trip through Angeles National Park. Watch the corners. Gets tight and saw a few bikes that had hit the walls!
Great climb, corners and scenery.
Pfeiffer canyon bridge was still closed (5days to go) but this detour was totally worth it! Bunch of sections with narrow curvy roads with some surface damages, but almost noone on the road. Make sure to have enough gas to get through, as there are no stations for a good 30-40 miles
Long day in the saddle but well worth the trip. Wife and I do this trip in the fall every yr on 2 up. Lots of great wine stops to pick up a few bottles and then enjoy Ojai that night.
Great day ride out of Ojai. Some great food stops along the way. Try “The Place” in venacopa and Pine Mt Bar in Fish Camp.
French creek to S Shingle
Second leg
More to come
Great short day ride with fun curves, great views, and little towns
This fun out-and-back route is the road to the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest - a twisty, steeply-climbing mountain road, with a drop-off on one side. Scenery is amazing, but keep your eyes on the road! Corners sneak up on you, but a very fun, entertaining route. You may end up behind a slow-moving tourist car, but it is still worth the views on the way up. Take a short hike when you get to the top, around the Bristlecone Pines. Very nice route.
Benton Crossing is very scenic, and not a lot of cars out there. Nice cruiser road, high speed and fun corners, and gorgeous views!
Fabulous route. Must see
Santa Ysabel Loop and MCRD
Sweeping turns, rolling hills, great pavement, vineyards and oak woodlands: a short but very nice ride. North end meets Foxen Canyon Rd, another great ride.
